Met een geheim onderzoek doet de regering een poging om een apparaat, dat ervoor zorgde dat gevechtsschepen onzichtbaar werden, opnieuw in elkaar te zetten. Ze slagen erin en het schip dat in 1943 tijdens de eerste test verdween, wordt teruggevonden. Dat brengt echter een hoop doden en verwoestingen met zich mee. Het is nu aan de enige overlevende van het eerste experiment en zijn kleindochter om nog meer problemen te voorkomen.
